Intended as a an aid to classroom teachers, this handbook presents a literature unit based on the children's book, "Little House on the Prairie" (Laura Ingalls Wilder). It begins with sample lesson plans, pre-reading activities, author information, a book summary, and vocabulary lists and suggested vocabulary activities. Next, chapters of "Little House on the Prairie" are grouped for study into 5 sections; each section includes quizzes, hands-on projects, cooperative learning activities, cross-curricular connections, and extensions into the reader/student's own life. Finally, the handbook offers culminating activities, unit test options, a bibliography of related reading, and an answer key. (SR)
