Personal Stories: A Book for Adults Who Are Beginning To Read. Book 1.
Koch, Kamla Devi; And Others
The workbook, designed for use by adults learning to read, contains a series of brief personal narratives with photo illustrations and related comprehension and extension exercises. The first section's narratives focus on family relationships and description of the personal characteristics of seven individuals. The second section contains stories about the different types of homes of the individuals whose narratives appear in the first section. Section three focuses on description of the same individuals' daily activities. Each narrative is followed by a number of written exercises that test comprehension and encourage students to write their own personal stories. The exercises use word and sentence completion, true/false answers, sentence ordering, sentence rewriting, and simple narrative writing. They focus on basic grammatical rules, phonetics, and vocabulary development. (MSE) (Adjunct ERIC Clearinghouse on Literacy Education)
