Since its inception in 1985, and through 1992, Washington state's Distinguished Professorship Program has succeeded in establishing 32 prestigious professorships at its four-year institutions with 3 more in process. Also in 1985, the state legislature enacted the Distinguished Professorship Trust Fund Program to strengthen partnerships between citizens and public four-year institutions. The program provides a matching grant program to assist institutions in creating endowments for funding distinguished professorships. This report provides a summary of progress made by these programs at the University of Washington, Washington State University, Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University, Evergreen State College, and Western Washington University. Data are provided for the 1985-87, 1987-89, and 1989-91 bienniums; as well as data on the 1991-93 reallocations and investment earnings. (GLR)
