A practicum intervention that provided an intensive language acquisition skills program to kindergarten children performing below grade level expectation in language acquisition was designed, implemented, and evaluated. Parents were included through scheduled meetings and newsletters that were developed by the children. The program was designed to: (1) increase children's skill level in the language area of the Systematic Approach to Developmental Instruction (SADI) checklist; (2) increase the developmental age of the children; (3) reduce the amount of time needed for children to complete SADI center activities; and (4) improve the children's critical thinking skills in the areas of organization of data, language analysis and synthesis, and problem-solving. Practicum evaluation data indicated that the intervention was successful. Related materials, such as a survey of parents on language practices in the home, are included. (RH)
