This material is designed to aid parents in the primary-level mathematics instruction of their children at home. The text describes activities to strengthen basic skills. The suggested orientation is informal, ongoing, repetitious, and fun. Parents are encouraged to praise their children, and to remember that what may seem like minor achievement may in fact be major breakthroughs for their child. After presenting a flow chart for studying mathematics concepts, the guide presents activities on comparisons; positional relationships; patterning; basic shapes; counting; set recognition; numeral recognition; time; money; and computational skills.
