Resulting from a 3 year project to develop competency based programs for camp personnel working with the physically handicapped, the four field guides task analyze the roles of the camp secretary, camp nurse, camp food services staff, and camp maintenance supervisor. All guides contain an introduction and information on general duties, job qualifications, relationships with other staff, considerations for handicapped campers, and an annotated bibliography. Additionally, each guide contains sections with guidelines pertinent to that particular job description. The camp secretary field guide includes information on business operations, clerical duties, and duties related to office management; the camp nurse field guide includes information on health policies and procedures, preparation of the health care center, staff training, treatment of illnesses and injuries, staff communication, camp program participation, health records and inventories, and professional development activities; the camp food services supervisor field guide includes information on supervising food preparation, enforcing regulations, planning meals, purchasing food, maintaining equipment and supplies, preparing meals, serving food, supervising food service, maintaining records, maintaining service areas and equipment, and closing the food service; the camp maintenance supervisor field guide includes information on maintaining equipment, managing supplies, maintaining vehicles, managing and maintaining facilities, managing camp properties, maintaining inventories and records, providing program assistance, and supervising maintenance and housekeeping staff. Each guide also contains a chart with a task analysis breakdown of each position. (SBH)
