U.S. and Canadian doctoral dissertations in English concerning the education of girls and women at all ages and school levels in public and private institutions worldwide are compiled in this annotated bibliography. Included with studies of women in liberal or traditional academic education are those in nursing education, home economics education (family life, domestic science), physical education, and other vocational or career training. Entry is alphabetical by author. Citations include the degree (Ph.D., Ed. D., or other), degree-granting institution, and year, plus an abbreviation indicating the source of information. Full bibliographic data is included except where Canadian university entries and earlier University of Southern California and University of Chicago abstracts omitted pagination and where Xerox University Microfilms, Inc. omitted other numbers. Summaries following each citation attempt to describe the problem, research technique, subjects used in the study, and especially the findings and implications. A subject index is provided. (LC)
