Career Development. Sidney City Schools. Activities. K-2.
Sidney City School District, OH.
This is a K-2 curriculum guide containing thirty-nine lessons about the individual and work. The lessons are grouped in four sections: (1) The Individual and His Environments (work topics; the concept of work; necessity of work to the individual and his physical and social environments; and the concepts of needs and wants); (2) World of Work (varieties of work; work families in environments; work characteristics in vocational guidance; processes of vocational guidance; dynamics of the world of work); (3) Self (self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-affirmation relative to interests, aptitudes and abilities, achievement, and values and attitudes); and (4) Economics (the individual as consumer, producer, and citizen; flow of money in exchange for goods and services; information and skills useful to consumers; persons and organizations who assist consumers in various ways). Each lesson plan has a precisely stated developmental objective, related behavioral objectives (3-7), suggested activities (2-9), a space for writing in additional activities, and a sample lesson on one of the suggested activities; the lesson specifies materials and procedures and provides space for notes and comments. The progression of the lessons in the guide, from family to the world, is designed to correspond to the natural expansion of the child's world. (DTT)
