Mild Intellectual Disability

Scope Note: 
Intellectual functioning that ranges two to three standard deviations below the mean (usually 55-69 IQ range), concurrent with adaptive deficiencies -- individual with mild intellectual disability are able to acquire functional academic skills through special education and adults can usually maintain themselves at least semi-independently in a community. Prior to 2015, "Mild Mental Retardation" was used to index this concept.
