Omnibus Tests for Interactions in Repeated Measures Designs with Dichotomous Dependent Variables.
Serlin, Ronald C.; Marascuilo, Leonard A.
When examining a repeated measures design with independent groups for a significant group by trial interaction, classical analysis of variance or multivariate procedures can be used if the assumptions underlying the tests are met. Neither procedure may be justified for designs with small sample sizes and dichotomous dependent variables. An omnibus nonparametric test statistic for interactions in such designs, based on the alignment procedures of Hodges and Lehmann, is presented and examined. The results indicate that this statistic should be preferred to the F test when sample sizes are small and the probabilities are near 0.0 or 0.1. (Author/GDC)
