Handbook of Curriculum Evaluation.
Lewy, Arieh, Ed.
This book is designed to meet the needs of experts working on curriculum planning and evaluation throughout the world, with special attention to the needs of developing countries. It presents both a model for curriculum evaluation and practical guidelines for evaluating new instructional materials. Part 1 contains a single chapter that briefly describes models that have greatly affected empirical work in curriculum evaluation and describes some facets of the evaluation approach proposed in this book. Part 2 defines stages of curriculum development and proposes evaluation activities appropriate for each of those stages. These six chapters encompass the whole range of evaluation activities in sequential order, beginning with the decision to develop a new program and ending with the decision to recycle or rewrite an existing program. Part 3 consists of five chapters that describe various methods and strategies applied to curriculum evaluation, focusing on the specific features of those strategies that fit the needs of curriculum evaluation.
