Education, v132 n4 p826-833 Sum 2012
This study investigated the most prevalent sources of occupational stress and also the demographic variables of gender, age and length of service among primary school teachers in Delta State. Two research questions and three hypotheses guided the study. The study used a descriptive survey design. The population was the primary school teachers in Delta State. A questionnaire consisting of 32 items was the instrument used with a reliability of 0.73. From the analysis done by mean, standard deviation and t-test, it revealed that teachers experience occupational stress with organizational and work stress being the most prevalent. The result also showed that there was no significant difference in occupational stress with reference to gender, age and length of service. Recommendations were made as regards the way forward.
