A keynote address, seven papers, and a panel discussion are presented in these conference proceedings. The keynote address, "Friends and Critics: The Feminist Academy" (Elizabeth Kamarck Minnich), focuses on the interrelationship between critique and friendship and the importance of both to feminist scholarship. The first of seven selected papers, "Have Women Always Been Unequal?" (Rita Smith Kipp), condenses recent anthropological research on women's status. The second paper, "The Feminist Academy and Third World Women" (Nellice Gillespie-Woltemade), warns against imposing American forms of feminism on Third World women, while encouraging a two-way exchange of values, ideas, and skills. Other papers include "Feminism and the Established Curriculum in British and American Literature (Nicholas Jones), "Effects of Isolation on the Woman Artist" (Joyce Parr), "Historiogenic Art: Camouflage and Plumage (Bonnie Woods), "Do Contemporary Films Significantly Critique Patriarchy?" (John Schilb), and "Recruiting and Retaining Women Faculty" (Jon Fuller). A final presentation entitled "Curriculum Reform, or What Do You Mean, 'Our College Should Have a Feminist Curriculum?" (Allison Bernstein, Louis Brakeman, Paula Goldsmid, and Elizabeth Minnich) and a schedule of conference events conclude the document. (LH)
