This guide is intended to assist vocational educators in teaching an eight-unit module in gas metal arc welding. The module is part of a welding curriculum that has been designed to be totally integrated with Missouri's Vocational Instruction Management System. The following topics are covered in the module: safety and testing, gas metal arc welding machines, wire classification and problem solving, welding principles, carbon steel, techniques for welding on aluminum and on stainless steel, and flux-cored arc welding. The materials included in the module have been formatted for competency-based teaching and testing. All information sheets, transparency masters, job sheets, assignment sheets, and test items are keyed to specific competencies, and a cross-reference table has been included to aid in identifying the parts of the curriculum that relate to specific competencies. Unit tests to evaluate specific competencies have also been provided. (MN)
