What Does Daniel Pink Have to Say?
Passmore, Kaye
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v106 n8 p54, 85 Apr 2007
In Daniel Pink's vision of the near future, Americans value artists and creative thinkers as much as computer programmers, good design is a necessity, and empathy is essential to all products and services. In this article, the author discusses what Pink, author of "A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers will Rule the Future," has to say on creative thinking and describes the six essential right-brain-directed aptitudes that creative thinkers should master. These are: (1) Good Design; (2) Narrative; (3) Symphony; (4) Empathy; (5) Play; and (6) Meaning. Many of these right-brain thinking skills could easily be incorporated into art projects or become sketchbook assignments. (Contains 1 online resource.)
