Teaching science by a process approach is an exciting adventure for both teachers and their students. Process science is an open ended approach, and the direction learning will take place is determined, for the most part, by the children. This method requires that teachers understand how children learn, know the possibilities a topic offers for active learning, be familiar with suitable materials, and know how to use effective teaching methods. This book represents the experiences of several preschool and kindergarten teachers who have successfully used process science with children aged 3- to 5-years-old. Part 1 discusses background information that is needed to understand and appreciate the process approach. Part 2 presents 85 activities that can be used with children to explore science.
