Most organizations spend millions of dollars due to the impact of improperly implemented database application systems as evidenced by poor data quality problems. The purpose of this quantitative study was to use, and extend, the technology acceptance model (TAM) to assess the impact of information quality and technical quality factors on database application implementation success with the goal of addressing the prevalent poor data quality issue. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used for path analysis in this research. Implementation success was evaluated in accordance with the perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and behavioral intention to use database systems in accordance with TAM. The Internet questionnaire design used for this research was drawn through Survey Monkey and sent to the members of the Database Administrator Professionals (DAP), and International Information Management Association (IIMA) groups on Linkedln. Findings from this study, based on data collected from the usable sample size of 290, showed that there was statistically significant evidence to indicate that information quality influenced perceived ease of use (ß = 0.33, p < 0.001). Similarly, statistically significant evidence was found to indicate that technical quality influenced information quality (ß = 0.67, p < 0.001), perceived usefulness (ß = 0.30, p < 0.001), and perceived ease of use (ß = 0.51, p < 0.001). However, no statistically significant evidence was found to indicate that information quality influenced perceived usefulness (ß = -0.12, p = 0.123). The findings from this study extend the TAM framework and makes significant contribution to both theory and practice in the information technology (IT) profession. For practical application of the findings from this study, a number of recommendations have been advanced. The IT managers should encourage the use of proper technology for implementing database application systems, as well as encourage the development of database application systems that are relatively easy to use. For future research, it is recommended that further studies be conducted to investigate the applicability of the behavioral control factors, such as self-efficacy and facilitating condition, on information quality and perceived usefulness.
