Technological Culture and the Human Prospect: An Evaluation of a New Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Team-Taught Course.
Counelis, James Steve
An evaluation of an undergraduate interdisciplinary team-taught course entitled "Technological Culture and the Human Prospect" is presented. The pilot course attempts to deal with (1) the need for curricular innovation, (2) the need for faculty development, (3) the need to build flexible curricula with greater sensitivity for student motivation and student perceptions of subject matter relevance, and (4) the need to bridge the"two cultures" problem of C.P. Snow. The effects of the project (development and execution of the course) upon the Jesuit institution, faculty, and students are examined and found to be very positive. The appendix contains: descriptions and copies of the student appraisal questionnaire and the faculty appraisal questionnaire, a copy of the student's project contract sheet, and copies of three essay examinations used in the course.
