The revised Iowa Developed Energy Activity Sampler (IDEAS) was compiled using the original IDEAS program and the Energy Conservation Activity Packets (ECAPS). This document contains teaching activities which are intended to strengthen students' mathematics skills and concepts, while broadening their understanding of energy concepts. Each of the 24 activities includes: (1) the subject area for which the activity was intended; (2) the grade level; (3) a brief descriptive statement about the activity itself; (4) the objective(s) of the activity; (5) a list of materials needed; (6) the approximate amount of time needed for the activity; (7) a more complete description of the activity, including the various components of the activity and their relationship to Piaget's learning cycle (awareness, concept development, application); and (8) some follow-up/background information. The focal points of the program are energy concerns, impacts, choices, challenges, and conservation. (TW)
