Listening across the Curriculum
Ediger, Marlow
Reading Improvement, v51 n4 p359-360 Win 2014
Listening as a skills objective must be emphasized throughout the curriculum of school subjects. There are a variety of learning opportunities which stress the art and skills of listening. In conversation, it might be embarrassing if the sender of the message needs to repeat content due to faulty listening habits. Or, the responder in response says things which are unrelated to what the speaker has said. Courtesy is involved in being a good listener. Objectives pertaining to high quality listening skills need to permeate each academic discipline taught.
