This teaching guide on poison prevention was designed for use with children in kindergarten and the primary grades. Section I presents background material, including a description of the poisoning problem, a discussion of objectives, suggested approaches and ideas for working with parents and the community. Section II contains suggested learning experiences in the form of games, finger plays, stories, puppets, a visit to a drug store, etc. Section III presents ideas for culminating activities such as school assembly programs, exhibits, and a home safety check list. Also included are ideas for evaluating the program, a list of resources for the teacher and supplemental worksheets and activities for pupils. (JMB)
