Between Teachers & Parent: Helping Children Manage Stress
Brodkin, Adele M.
Early Childhood Today, v19 n6 p14-15 Apr 2005
In this article, the author discusses how to manage stress in children. A teacher's story and a parent's story about a child who complains of frequent stomach aches, is presented. Stomach aches and other somatic complaints without any apparent physical explanation are common among young children experiencing stress. Nevertheless, it is essential to rule out every possible medical cause and not assume, even in circumstances that a child's very real pain is entirely psychological in origin. Among other things, the author discusses what teachers and parents can do in these situations. (Contains a list of 3 resources.)
