Using Online Videos for Disability Awareness
Columna, Luis; Arndt, Katrina; Lieberman, Lauren; Yang, Stephen
Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (JOPERD), v80 n8 p19-24 Oct 2009
The increase of inclusive education in the United States has heightened the need for disability awareness among individuals without disabilities. Fostering awareness and openness to different ability levels in the classroom is a skill many educators need to develop. The purpose of this article is to describe how adapted physical educators, as well as general and special educators, can use online videos to develop disability awareness among their students. If used appropriately, online videos can be a powerful way to support disability awareness and they can motivate students to play a more active role in their learning.
