Descriptions of international exchange and travel programs that have met the standards of the Council on Standards for International Educational travel are provided. The standards apply to programs for high school students as well as to programs for foreign students coming to the United States. They relate to for-profit and nonprofit programs; to long and short-duration experiences; and to homestay and travel/study programs. For each program, information is provided on: the contact person, date established, number of participants, countries served, number of staffed offices, and whether it is for-profit or nonprofit. The descriptions cover the type of group sponsoring the program, methods of participant recruitment and placement, student selection criteria, the length of programs offered, financial aid provisions, whether participants are required to provide medical/accident insurance, whether the program provides guidelines and instructions to participants and/or host families; language proficiency requirements; and the availability of orientation and evaluation sessions for participants. Advice for educators and families who are considering exchange or travel programs is provided. (SW)
