Pasquier, Dominique
Childhood: A Global Journal of Child Research, v3 n3 p351-73 Aug 1996
Noting the popularity of television teen series among young viewers in France, this study examined how the programs are used as a way of defining gender identity for children and adolescents. Results indicated construction of meanings of characters and plots varied by age, gender, and social background of viewers. Relationship to series relied on individual emotional links and discussions with others. (TJQ)
