Teaching Physical Education to Mentally Retarded Children.

Methods for teaching physical education activities and skills to mentally retarded children are presented. General objectives are listed and the physical education program is outlined. Hints are offered for teaching the retarded child; and basic skills and rhythms are described. The following are then described; rhythm games, a volleyball unit and lead-up games, softball skills and lead-ups, basketball hints, soccer skills, a physical fitness activities unit, a stunts and tumbling unit, and relaxation activities.
