Tape Textured Works of Art
Skophammer, Karen
Arts & Activities, v146 n4 p36 Dec 2009
Texture is how things feel or how they look as though they might feel if one touches them. Some surfaces are rough and some are smooth to the touch. There are many other words, such as bumpy, used to describe texture when one feels or sees it. This article presents an art project in which elementary students explain how texture is used in art, define visual and actual texture, and complete a work of art using masking tape to create an actual texture and visual texture. In this project, the students learn about the two ways texture works as an element of art.
