This CD-ROM, designed for students in grades K-2, explores the world of simple machines. It allows students to delve into the mechanical world and learn the ways in which simple machines make work easier. Animated demonstrations are provided of the lever, pulley, wheel, screw, wedge, and inclined plane. Activities include practical matching and sorting games, and the fix-it game in which students write about why they selected certain tools to fix broken toys and machines. Nine content presentations are featured in the lessons section. A read-aloud section is also included. Students can take part in quizzes and note taking while using the program. There is a jukebox on which students can listen to songs based on simple machines. Program completion certificates are included. The activities section features topics such as force, the incredible inclined plane, levers at work, the human machine, build a machine, fix it, and machine museum.
