This joint project of the American Library Association, Children's Services Division, and the African American Institute is intended to provide kindergarten through ninth grade children with an annotated listing of appropriate works concerning the land and peoples of the African continent. The listings are presented by country and include nonfiction, fiction, geography books, folklore books, and poetry. Evaluations are made and those works felt to be of inferior quality are listed separately as non-recommended. An index and publisher list are included. A Supplementary Bibliography is appended of works received, but not reviewed. (CWB)
