Colclough, Chris
Education in Science, n246 p26-27 Feb 2012
St Michael's RC School aims to develop in its students an understanding of the importance of scientific knowledge through the delivery of a more diverse but appropriate scientific curriculum: a curriculum that is enriched and accessible to all students, regardless of ability; a curriculum that will encourage them to continue the study of both science and mathematics post-16. Through strong and active partnerships with its family of schools, St Michael's RC School aims to develop in its students real aspirations for scientific achievement. In this article, the author describes a type of collaboration between schools, higher education, industry and commerce which he believes can begin to address the skills shortage that exists, particularly in the North East of England, but also across the country.
