Literature Reviews: Analysis, Planning, and Query Techniques
Wilhelm, William J.; Kaunelis, David
Delta Pi Epsilon Journal, v47 n2 p91-106 Spr-Sum 2005
Graduate students, tenured and tenure-track professors, and other professionals conduct scholarly research and have their findings published in recognized journals. Undergraduate and graduate students engage in rudimentary research to gather data relevant to case assignments in order to develop reasoned arguments. A focused literature review helps a researcher identify topics worthy of investigation, helps preclude a researcher from possible duplication of effort by other researchers, and provides the researcher relevant data from previous research studies to support hypotheses, clarify research designs, or corroborate findings. This article presents proper techniques for planning, organizing and conducting a reliable literature search using electronic databases that index business education scholarly publications.
