Examines the phenomena of multiple loss and cumulative grief in gay men (n=93) as a result of the AIDS epidemic. Uses Sanders's Integrative Theory of Bereavement to examine the relationship between multiple loss and the intensity of grief experienced. Suggests an adaptive process of habituation may be occurring and that the subjects may be remaining in Sanders's conservation-withdrawal phase of bereavement. (KW)
