Management Matters. Your Role as a School Library Media Specialist
Stephens, Claire; Franklin, Pat
School Library Media Activities Monthly, v22 n2 p45-46 Oct 2005
In the day-to-day operation of a library media center, service is the most important job. A library media specialist is employed to be of service to your students, teachers, administrators, and parents, but according to "Information Power: Building Partnerships for Learning," prepared by the American Association of School Librarians, the school library media specialist's job description falls in three categories: (1) teaching and learning; (2) information access; and (3) program administrator. This article defines and provides examples for each of these skills.
