Degrees Granted and Program Production by Arkansas Institutions of Higher Education, 1982-83. Report 83-3.
Branscum, Joanne
Data on degrees conferred in 1982-1983 by the 31 higher education institutions in Arkansas are presented, along with a narrative description of trends. The data include second-summer, fall, spring, and first-summer terms. Degree production for 1982-1983 was 3.1% higher than 1981-1982. Most of the increase resulted from increases in associate degree production at state institutions. Forty-two percent of the certificate and associate degrees granted by Arkansas institutions were liberal/general studies degrees. Two fields of study dominate the baccalaureate area: the education and business fields each accounted for 24% of the baccalaureate degrees conferred by the 19 four-year Arkansas colleges and universities. Education was the dominant field at the masters degree level. Tables include an institutional listing of certificates and degrees conferred at the associate, bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels; degrees granted by level and discipline; degrees by level and sector; and degrees for the specific state and private institutions. The tables also provide a cross reference for the four groups of institutions (state four-year, state two-year, private four-year, and private two-year). Included are trend data on degrees for 1978-1979 through 1982-1983. (SW)
