This curriculum guide on electrical occupations is designed to provide eleventh and twelfth grade teachers with the educational specifications for specific knowledge and skills that will qualify students for entry-level employment in five electrical occupational areas: inside electrician, outside electrician, electronics assembler, electrical appliance repair, and electronic technician. The guide is divided into four sections. The first one, an introduction, includes educational goals, definitions of terms, and provisions for approval of secondary vocational programs. The second section presents a world-of-work chart showing a career, occupation, and instructional analysis followed by a list of common skill requirements for each of the five occupational areas. Section 3 discusses goal-based planning and the main objective for the electrical cluster, individualized instruction, and suggested allied supporting courses to be included in the electrical cluster curriculum. In the last section, comprising the major portion of the guide, content is divided into five subsections, each covering one of the following skill areas in the electrical career education process: technical communications; testing and measuring; assembly, maintenance, and repair; electrical/electronic theory and math; and personal development and leadership. Each subsection includes the following correlated components: a course goal, student competencies (from fifteen to fifty-seven), performance indicators (from one to ten), and suggested learning activities.
