Part of a series of classroom aids designed for real estate instructors, this instructional packet was developed to help real estate students understand the content and complexities of the Real Estate License Act of Texas. The packet has three parts. The first two parts provide an instructor's evaluation form and the instructor's guide to the law, which presents the full text of the act and highlights sections that answer specific questions covered in accompanying overhead visuals. The remainder of the packet presents the overhead masters, which focus on general provisions of the law; the definitions of real estate, a broker, a salesperson, exemptions, a "person," the Texas Real Estate Commission; persons exempted from licensure; acts of a broker or salesperson; the composition, funding, and administration of the Texas Real Estate Commission; the funding of the Texas Real Estate Research Center; requirements for a license; establishment of competency; courses of study required for licensure; experience requirements for a broker's license; current educational requirements for the broker's and salesperson's license; the real estate recovery fund; when and how licenses are issued; review procedures for licensure; license fees; office requirements for a licensee; termination of sponsorship; compensation for real estate acts; causes for license suspension or revocation; investigation of complaints; unauthorized practice of law; commission hearings; listing contract forms; access to commission information files; penalties; compensation; regulations governing inspectors of real estate improvements; and sources of additional information.
