Reports on a statistical analysis of the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS), a popular research instrument used to measure overall quality of the educational environment in day care centers and preschool settings. Results are based on ECERS' use in Swedish day care centers and are discussed in relation to Swedish child care policy. (TJQ)
