Sustaining Work Force Inclusion and Well-being of Mothers on Public Assistance: Individual Deficit and Social Ecology Perspectives.
Kossek, Ellen Ernst; Huber, Melissa S. Q.; Lerner, Jacqueline V.
Journal of Vocational Behavior, v62 n1 p155-75 Feb 2003
Female welfare recipients (n=144) and one child of each were interviewed. High levels of human and psychological capital and lower levels of family social ecology barriers predicted more maternal paid employment and psychological well-being. Analyses of nearly 1,200 welfare mothers' archival records correlated low initial capital with greater dependence on welfare. (Contains 42 references.) (SK)
