Evaluation of the California Psychological Inventory as an Effective Admission Standard for PsyD Programs
Kobylinski, Amy
ProQuest LLC, Psy.D. Dissertation, The University of the Rockies
A current admission criterion of a PsyD program was examined for effective profiling of personality characteristics of professional clinical psychology students. The California Psychological Inventory (CPI) was used as the personality assessment of all applicants to the PsyD program. The CPI quadrant score of "Alpha" with a CPI score of "7" and female was detected to be the most frequent profile of those accepted to the PsyD program. In contrast the least accepted profile a CPI quadrant score of "Beta", a CPI score of "3" and male was significant. The report suggests that examination of one PsyD program may not provide enough noteworthy information to formulate standards for admission criteria for other like professional psychology training programs.
