Effects of Congruence between Counselor Interpretations and Client Beliefs.
Claiborn, Charles D.; And Others
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v28 n2 p101-09 Mar 1981
In a study of undergraduates with procrastination problems, clients in the congruence conditions showed greater expectation and tendency toward change than those in the discrepancy conditions. A stronger effect, however, was due to the interpretations alone, which substantially changed clients' beliefs about the cause and controllability of their problems. (Author)
