An Alternative to Net Price: Assessing the Influence of Prices and Subsidies on Within-Year Persistence.
St. John, Edward P.; Starkey, Johnny B.
Journal of Higher Education, v66 n2 p156-86 Mar-Apr 1995
This study reviews higher education assumptions of traditional net-price theory and an emerging approach considering a set of price and subsidies in enrollment and persistence decisions. Results suggest that within-year persistence decisions made by students from all income groups are more sensitive to tuition charges than to student aid. Implications for pricing strategies and research are discussed. (MSE)
