Guidelines for implementing an exploratory career education curriculum in agribusiness and natural resources for Rhode Island students in grades 7-9 are presented. Section 1 presents a rationale, general objectives, suggestions for teacher preparation, explanation and scoring of interest inventory and achievement test, and resource list development. Section 2 presents eight individual units which explore occupations that a Rhode Island employment study found were in need of trained people, with employers willing to hire young people: (1) floriculture, (2) turf management, (3) landscape-nursery, (4) resource conservation management, (5) marine resources, (6) outdoor recreation, (7) food products, and (8) small animal technology. Each unit contains information regarding objectives, a list of major businesses, suggested learning activities, student learning exercises (with objectives, material, and procedures), achievement test and answer master, interest inventory and key, the script of slide presentation developed by the University of Rhode Island, and a resource list. A final section discusses career education and lists additional University of Rhode Island publications. (LH)
