The communication of information and ideas is an important and challenging part of any researcher's brief. No matter how learned the argument, if the delivery is muddled or inaudible, the visual aids unclear and the supporting material unavailable then the presentation, and the research, will fail to reach its audience. How much more challenging then is the first departmental seminar or the first conference paper for the postgraduate student? Generic research skills training programmes often fail to address the need to produce information in an accessible way--lack of guidance on this issue does little to ease the student's anxiety. This article focuses on the presentation of research to an audience in a way that attempts to reach everyone. The authors outline legal and practical reasons for improving accessibility in research dissemination; the origin and aim of their suggested "Guide for accessible research dissemination" using PowerPoint, an overhead projector (OHP) and/or written handouts and, finally; the Guide itself as a working document.
