Educational Standards for Chiropractic Colleges.
Council on Chiropractic Education, Des Moines, IA.
The policy of accreditation for the chiropractic profession and educational standards for chiropractic colleges are presented. The following types are historical development of chiropractic accreditation; the structure and function of the Council on Chiropractic Education; and eligibility, procedures, and classifications for status as an accredited chiropractic college. The following administrative functions of chiropractic colleges are supervision, self-evaluation committee, financial management, records and reports, ethical practices, catalog, and calendar. A discussion of scholastic regulations concerns admission, preprofessional education, advanced standing, foreign students, orientation on new students, student counseling, attendance, promotion, and requirements for the degree. The curriculum, clinical experience, library program, faculty, postgraduate (continuing) education, and rules and guidelines for use in interpretation of the published standards are covered. Policies of the Council on Chiropractic Education are presented on the following issues: nondiscrimination and equal opportunity, consultants, procedures for reviewing complaints against institutions, confidentiality, equivalency, ethics, postgraduate courses, extended day class, student complaint procedures, American-foreign cooperation, and the complaint review procedure.
