A social curriculum package was developed for use in adjustment training centers that serve developmentally disabled clients over the age of 16 years. The curriculum features two different instructional styles (verbal instruction and role play) for nine task areas: (1) seeking attention, (2) complying, (3) telling the truth, (4) expressing emotions, (5) accepting feedback, (6) being on task, (7) obeying community laws, (8) asserting oneself, and (9) solving problems. Field test participants lessened from an original 38 instructors to 13 and clients decreased from 118 to 30. Results suggested that the materials had to be adapted to fit each client and each center's circumstances, possibly negating the reason for developing the curriculum in the first place. The conclusion was offered that staff training may be more worthwhile than material development. The pre- and post-test for the curriculum are appended. (CL)
