Hazardous Waste Management for the Small Quantity Generator. Teacher Edition.

This instructional package for teaching about the regulations imposed on small quantity generators by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Resource Conservation Recovery Act is organized around ll program objectives: students will be able to (l) determine a hazardous waste from lists or by identifying characteristics; (2) identify the categories of hazardous waste generators; (3) count their hazardous wastes; (4) determine their generator category; (5) obtain a U.S. EPA identification number; (6) manage hazardous waste; (7) label, mark, and package hazardous waste; (8) identify what to look for when selecting a hazardous waste transporter and disposal facility; (9) fill out a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest; (l0) prepare an emergency plan; and (ll) identify whom to contact in case of an emergency. The package includes an instructor's guide with suggestions on how and when to use the appended information texts, which include "Understanding the Small Quantity Generator Hazardous Waste Rules: A Handbook for Small Business," by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, a list of hotline numbers and resources, a checklist for performing facility inspections, excerpts from the Code of Federal Regulations 40 dealing with protection of the environment, and a glossary of terms.
