Socio-economic Predictors of Alienation among the Elderly.
Durant, Thomas J., Jr.; Christian, Ollie
International Journal of Aging and Human Development, v31 n3 p205-17 1990
Studied level of alienation and associations between socioeconomic variables and alienation in 200 older senior center clients. Found group isolation and powerlessness were more prevalent than personal isolation or normlessness; health, race, education, and income were strongest predictors of alienation; and older Blacks and those with lower health, education, and income had higher levels of alienation.
