Creating a Web Site for Advocacy
Erwin, Heather; Valley, Julia
Teaching Elementary Physical Education, v16 n5 p26-30 Sep 2005
Because a mounting number of personnel, both young and old, continuously retrieve, seek out, communicate, assemble, and distribute information by way of the World Wide Web (WWW), it is vital for physical education teachers and other health/wellness promoters to tap into this source to advocate for their quality programs (Shiffett et al., 2001). This article describes how web sites can serve the useful purpose of sharing, advocating, and disseminating information about your physical education program to students, parents, and administrators. They can also help students meet the state and national standards. As physical education and related areas become more and more of a priority area for America due to the obesity epidemic, utilization of the WWW via physical education and other program web pages can support and promote quality programs and encourage children and adults alike to become physically active for life.
