Strategies for Recruiting and Retaining Hispanic Students
Devall, Esther L.; Vail, Ann; Resendez, Jeanne
Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, v97 n4 p50-55 2005
Hispanic Americans are the largest- and fastest growing minority group in the U.S., yet their higher education enrollment and graduation rates lag behind those of other ethnic groups. In the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at New Mexico State University, 42% of students are Hispanic. Of the students who graduate each year, 40% are Hispanic. Ten strategies for recruiting and retaining Hispanic students can be used by other colleges and universities to increase the diversity of family and consumer sciences professionals.
