Educational Neuroscience: What Can We Learn?
Bell, Derek
Education in Science, n256 p16 May 2014
There has been a marked increase in interest, research, and publications exploring ways in which educational practices might be influenced by neuroscience. The idea that a greater understanding of how the brain works can improve teaching and learning is very seductive, but what can teachers and other professionals working in education learn from educational neuroscience? Educational neuroscience (the discipline) is still, in many respects, very much a fledgling discipline, but one with much potential from which in time there will be much to learn. This article discusses the resource, "Educational Neuroscience," which provides a valuable up-to-date source of information and explanation for everyone (researchers and practitioners alike) who wishes to engage, or is already engaged, with this exciting field of human development.
